Genius-level communication

Announcement:

Registration opens today for the next session of Beyond Persuasion: The new route to extraordinary outcomes starting September 15th. The price will be going up after August 19th.

“I watched him go from skeptical to passionate, completely on board, in one conversation.”

The meeting with his boss left Grant beaming. Grant started the meeting by asking his boss to completely reorganize their division. He wanted departments that historically worked completely on their own moved under him, because the way they were organized was creating logjams for Grant’s department.

Grant was asking for 50 more people to report to him, 50 that were currently reporting to two others, and he wanted the two others reporting to him, too. It wasn’t exactly a promotion, but would certainly elevate his status and expand his level of authority tremendously. It would also solve his headaches.

It was a shocking proposal to make. It could easily have been dismissed as “territory-grabbing” and “self-serving”. In other words, it was a crazy idea in any corporate world. In Grant’s world, it solved a lot of problems. The only thing left was to make it make sense to his boss and the rest of the organization.

Grant had been enrolled in Beyond Persuasion for 2 ½  months when this happened. He had tackled many lesser situations and had gotten himself familiar with the little-known process that leads to extraordinary outcomes. His successes to date included getting the stubborn neighbors to trim branches hanging over into his yard, his daughter to cheerfully do her homework, and an untrusting department head to enthusiastically include his team in their meetings. He was ready for this one.

Grant was prepared for the confusion that would happen, knew it would look like resistance the moment he introduced his radical idea to his boss. He knew exactly what to do.

Beyond Persuasion taught him how to remove that initial resistance; how to get the boss interested enough to have the conversation; how to help him begin to see the picture; then grasp the full concept and rationale.

And then came the most important breakthrough that needed to happen: his boss had to examine the data Grant presented and realize for himself that this was the only way to accomplish what the organization needed. Not because Grant had pushed him there or insisted.

His boss had to be capable of judgment, make his own decision that this was the right way to go, and become committed enough to walk out of the meeting and make it happen.

Grant knew the stages a person goes through on the route to an extraordinary outcome, and knew how to keep moving through them. That’s why he wasn’t thrown off by anything he saw along the way. He anticipated and smoothly removed the obstacles.

And when success happened, the whole conversation was very natural. No pressure. No techniques.

Just extraordinary communication built on creating real understanding and knowledge of the path that leads to commitment, extraordinary communication built on a process that always works.

Grant also knew that getting his boss on board wasn’t enough. His boss had to understand the idea so thoroughly and be so committed that he could go out and persuade the rest of the organization. That had to be done at his boss’s level. Grant set up another meeting to make sure his boss was prepared.

After the announcement, Grant met with the other department heads, now reporting to him. Using the same process with each of them, they were on board and excited about working with him. What could have looked like a demotion was seen as a grand opportunity. The future looked bright to all of them.

Genius is simply the ability to do things others can’t. If everyone can do it, it’s not genius.

Right now, it’s rarer than hen’s teeth that a person knows how to communicate at this level. So, when you see someone like Grant doing it, it looks like genius.

Every human being has the capacity for genius. Where genius is most needed is in how we interact with each other. In all parts of life.

When you can create the outcomes you want, life is grand. Your goals get bigger because you know you can achieve them. You don’t have to keep yourself small.

Beyond Persuasion makes you a genius. That’s the simplest way to describe it. Having trained so many people on this program, what I love about delivering it is the unfolding of magic and surprise, the look on everyone’s face when they see themselves fully capable of doing what Grant just did.

All you have to do is learn the process.

It’s an extraordinary program. There’s nothing like it. To get a sense of what you get and what the journey looks like, you can take a look at everything that’s on it.

A wonderful group of students is completing the program this month. Our next group is starting September 15. Right now, the introductory fee is $2500 per person. Our finance person is increasing that to $3,500 on August 19.

The program is not for everyone. It requires committing to a steady, consistent learning experience for three months. It’s about 10 hours a month at your own schedule. That’s the price for becoming a genius, capable of achieving outcomes that others will never experience.

Grant did it. You can do it. And once you learn the skills, you will be able to create any kind of change you want to see, often in one conversation.

Be the cause!
