The first step to creating extraordinary outcomes

The shift from ordinary to extraordinary begins with this moment: knowing the exact effect you want to create and stating it precisely.

I asked each person their purpose at the start of the training. What do you want your audience to think or do?

I got answers back like this one, “Align on our priorities”.

As we went forward, he said what he really wanted is:

“To inspire them about the work we’re doing, to create a vision of how the work my team is doing puts the wind in the sails of the work they’re doing, to elevate the importance of our collaboration for the future of the whole corporation, to have them enthusiastically and energetically contribute to making this an incredible success, to have them love meeting with us.”

Another workshop participant whose initial purpose was, “To give an update on the work I’m doing”, said:

“To make them gasp, to put them on the edge of their seats, to make them really enjoy hearing about a week in the life, to make them laugh, to make them talk about it afterward to others, to make them feel like they can’t wait for my next week’s update.”

And another whose initial purpose was, “To tell everyone to hang in there”, said:

“To refresh their spirits, to fill them with hope, to renew their sense of purpose and rekindle passion, to restore their fervor and commitment, to create trust in our future, to see it shining in all of their eyes, to see them leave here and go right into inspired action.”

At first, they were all afraid they were asking too much. They weren’t.  Every person has the ability to create outcomes like this. What’s missing is the skill to do it. That’s what our training is about, what they gained.

We help you name the outcome, without limits. And we help you develop the skills you need to create it.

An incredible outcome starts long before you speak. It begins the moment you decide, without hedging, the exact effect you will create.

Most people lower the bar before they open their mouth.

Don’t.

This is not the path to extraordinary.

Name the real outcome you want. Master the skill to make it real. That’s the path you want.

Be the cause!
